Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions regarding our store and website. If you have a question that isn't answered here, or need additional information please contact us.



  1. Where are you located?
    • 8315 Beechmont Ave, Suite 23, Cincinnati, Ohio 45244
    • We are in Anderson Crossings Plaza, the corner of 8 Mile and Beechmont.
    • Look for us in the corner, snugly nestled between Servatii's and Cincinnati School of Music!
  2. Where do I park?
    • Parking lot parking.
  3. What are your hours?
    • Mondays: 10AM-8PM
    • Tuesday - Friday: 10AM-6PM
    • Saturday 10AM-4PM
    • Sunday: 12PM-4PM

  5. Do you only have used books?
    • No, we have both new and used books.  Almost 30,000 titles, about 85% are used and 15% are new.
  6. Do you have <insert book name here>?​​​​​​​
    • We might.  We find that there is about a 50/50 chance that we have specific titles that people are looking for.  Feel free to search on our database, or call us and ask!
  7. If you don't have it in stock, can you help me get it?
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Heck yeah!  We are happy to take your name and number and if it comes in, we will call you.  If you want something more active, we can search our contacts and see if we can find it for you.  If we do and you are interested in buying it, we charge you $2 more than it costs us to get it to the store.  If you don't want to wait, we can probably order a new copy and have it in a couple of days.



  1. If I find a book on your site, does that mean it's currently in stock at your store?
    • Not necessarily. If your order is time sensitive, please call us to confirm availability.
  2. I received a confirmation e-mail. Does this mean that my order is ready to be picked up or has been shipped?
    • No. This just means that we've received your order, you will be contacted when your order has shipped or is ready to be picked up.
  3. When will I get my book(s)?
    • For in stock orders we strive to ship them within 7 business day and delivery time depends on the method of shipping selected. For orders with out of stock items, we will provide an estimated date of shipment.
  4. What if I need to return something?
    • Please review our return policies and contact us with any further questions.
  5. What forms of payment do you accept?
    •  We accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express and if you're picking up in store, you may pay in cash.
  6. How can I check the status of my order?
    • Log in, select 'My Account' and Orders' a list of all orders and their current status is provided.


  1. Do you sell used and new books?
    • Yes. About 90% of our books are used, while the other 10% are new.
  2. What happens when I bring in a book? Can I exchange my books for cash?
    • We do not exchange books for cash. If you bring in books, we can take them and give store credit in exchange. You will generally get about 25% of the cover price in store credit.
  3. How does store credit work?
    • Store credit comes on a little orange slip that you keep yourself, we do not keep track of it. Store credit is given when you bring in books, and can be used for up to 50% off your total purchase.
  4. What happened to the previous owner? Does ___ still work there?
    • The previous owner retired at 79. The Beechmont Book Rack is currently the last one standing after Scott Hughes bought it in October of 2017. Most of the previous employees are still here, including Lynette, Maxine, Carolyn, Kandi, Eileen, and Linda.
  5. Do you have magazines, DVDs, CDs, or audio books?
    • No. We currently only sell books, though we may expand in the future.
  6. How do I rent books?
    • You can pick up a rental book in store. We will ask you to fill out a slip with your information on it if we don't already have your information on file. The slip will also have the book's information and the due date, and we each get a copy of the slip. Renting books coasts $3.00 per week, and is paid for upon return.
  7. Do you have this book I'm looking for?
    • While we have hundreds of books, there is no guarantee that we have the book that you are looking for. We can always check, though! Some books come in and out frequently, and if the book you're looking for is one of these, you can leave your name and number with us and we will call you whenever it comes back in. We also belong to a network of used bookstores, which means that we can order a used copy of the book you're looking for if we don't have it in store.
  8. What are special orders? How do they work?
    • Special orders are orders we make for people when we don't have the book they're looking for in store. Upon ordering, we will ask you to fill in a slip with your information on it so that we can contact you when we receive your book. We ask that you pay for the book when you order so that we don't get stuck with the book, unpaid. Special orders generally come in on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and you will receive a call when your book is ready to be picked up.
